Baseball Game Preview: David Anderson Blue Devils vs. Jackson-Milton Bluejays

The David Anderson Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Jackson-Milton Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

David Anderson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Chaney last Thursday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Cowboys. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Bryce Esarey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for David Anderson: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Esarey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ashton Hinchliffe was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of David Anderson's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Paxton Henthorne also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton made easy work of Waterloo on Thursday and carried off a 17-9 victory.

David Anderson now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Jackson-Milton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Everything went David Anderson's way against Jackson-Milton in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, as David Anderson made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Bluejays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
