Recap: Eldorado Sundevils vs. Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mater Academy East Las Vegas, the Eldorado Sundevils were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Somerset Sky Pointe by a score of 47-36. This was payback for Eldorado, who suffered a 62-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Eldorado's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Robert "RJ" Waddell led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. Waddell hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Eric Lechuga was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Somerset Sky Pointe had strong showings from Dylan Oblad, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Emmitt Bell, who scored 16 points. Oblad has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played.
Eldorado's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they dropped their record down to 7-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Eldorado will take on Moapa Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Moapa Valley is ranked 69th, while Eldorado is ranked 71st). As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they will head out on the road to square off against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sierra Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 16 matchups.
