Softball Recap: Boyceville Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Boyceville won against Mondovi on Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Durand-Arkansaw Panthers an 8-0 shutout. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Aubrey Malean made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Lain, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

Boyceville has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Durand-Arkansaw, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Coincidentally, Boyceville and Durand-Arkansaw will both be playing Spring Valley the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
