Basketball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Comes Up Short

Genoa-Kingston's tournament run continued when they took on Belvidere North on Saturday. The Genoa-Kingston Cogs fell to the Belvidere North Blue Thunder 50-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Blue Thunder are ranked 494th).

Genoa-Kingston has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Belvidere North, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season.

Genoa-Kingston's road trip will continue as they head out to face South Beloit at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Genoa-Kingston is facing South Beloit at the right time seeing as South Beloit is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Belvidere North and Richmond-Burton will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
