It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Elbert County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Commerce Tigers, sneaking past 85-83. The Blue Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Aj Brown, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Elbert County is 4-1 when Brown posts ten or more boards, but 6-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DonTerris Hester, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Elbert County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Commerce lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Essien Lockleer, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 23 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Ty Sorrells was another key player, shooting 53% from the field en route to 21 points and six assists.

Elbert County's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Commerce, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 19-4 record.

Elbert County has already played their next matchup, a 72-54 win against Oglethorpe County on the 10th. As for Commerce, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-44 victory against Athens Academy on the 10th.
