Recap: Wayne Badgers vs. Merit Preparatory Academy Knights
The Wayne Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 52-29 margin over Merit Preparatory Academy. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-10.
Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lilly Morrill led the charge by scoring ten points along with three steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. AJ Vandyke was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Wayne will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Escalante at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Escalante is ranked 70th, while Wayne is ranked 47th). Merit Preparatory Academy will be home for the holidays to greet American Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
