Baseball Recap: Wes-Del Takes a Loss

Wes-Del had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-7 to make it eight. They came up short against the Kokomo Wildkats, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Wes-Del saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Wicker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Kokomo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Kokomo's side, Miles Cunningham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Cameron Parks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Harry Blake was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Wes-Del will face off against Blackford at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kokomo, they will welcome University at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildkats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
