Homer and Barrow are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2016, but not for long. The Mariners will take on the Whalers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Homer sitting on three straight victories and Barrow on six.

Meanwhile, Barrow faced Kenai Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Whalers strolled past the Kardinals with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but the Whalers were the (much) better team in the second half.

The critical scores for Barrow came from Malu Lauvao, John Taylor, Leoni Taitaiau, and Lennox Dias.

Barrow's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Homer, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Homer came up short against Barrow when the teams last played back in September, falling 22-14. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
