Softball Recap: Westside Patriots vs. Academy of Richmond County Musketeers
Westside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 20-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers. One positive for the Patriots, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Ava Babcock was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Grimes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base.
Even though they lost, Westside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy of Richmond County struck out seven times.
Westside's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Academy of Richmond County, the victory snapped their losing streak at 29 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-9 record.
Westside's homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Hephzibah at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Richmond County, they will host Westside at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
