Carrollwood Day is 1-9 against Berkeley Prep since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Patriots will square off against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Carrollwood Day's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Berkeley Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Carrollwood Day is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Tampa Prep. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Terrapins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Evan Mazur looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Allen Soriano was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Earle, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Carrollwood Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep posted their closest win since March 29th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Community School of Naples 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.
Berkeley Prep's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Parker Mitzel, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Joseph Troupe also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Carrollwood Day's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Berkeley Prep, their record is now 21-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carrollwood Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkeley Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carrollwood Day skirted past Berkeley Prep 5-4 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
