Preview: Cosby Titans vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks
Cosby is 0-10 against L.C. Bird since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cosby Titans will head out on the road to face off against the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. Cosby will be strutting in after a victory while L.C. Bird will be coming in after a loss.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Cosby ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Huguenot 27-26. The victory was all the more spectacular given Cosby's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Huguenot is ranked 89th).
Cosby can attribute much of their success to Landon Snyder, who rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown, and Robert Boyd iv, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Boyd iv hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Another reason for the win was Cosby's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jayden Freeman and James Bland who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, L.C. Bird ended up a good deal behind Manchester on Friday and lost 22-7. It was the first time this season that L.C. Bird let down their fans at home.
Cosby's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for L.C. Bird, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Cosby came up short against L.C. Bird in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 34-21. Can Cosby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
