League recap: Dunsmuir extends winning streak with victory over Mercy

California - North (8 Man) recap November 13, 2013

Dunsmuir extended the longest winning streak in California - North (8 Man) this week by beating Mercy, 48-0. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Tigers.

Big Valley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Princeton. The Cardinals came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Dunsmuir's dynamic duo of Dayton Pepperdine and Chase Sordahl proved tough for the Warriors to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pepperdine threw for 95 yards and 1 touchdown and Sordahl had 58 yards receiving. CJ Palmer helped Dunsmuir's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 37 yards.

Austin Dean provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Redding Christian bested Loyalton.

Dean was a force in the backfield as the Lions defeated the Grizzlies.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Tulelake's Trako Saluskin and Coby Taylor have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Saluskin has thrown for 1,349 yards this season, while Taylor has 22 catches for 677 yards. Pepperdine from Chris Ballard's team leads the league in rushing with 1,731 yards.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Big Valley and Redding Christian. Steve Gagnon's team enters the game ranked 24th in the state, while Stephen Dabbs' team ranks 15th.

In 100 carries Brandon Klopfer has put up 976 yards this year.

The Lions took down Loyalton 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dean ran for 292 yards in the win.
