Basketball Recap: Cyprus Takes a Loss

Cyprus lost against Hunter back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cyprus Pirates fell 49-41 to the Hunter Wolverines. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Cyprus lost, don't look at Calee Sharp. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points and three steals. Sharp has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Adri Pau'u was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight boards and four blocks.

Hunter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grace Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Destini Perez, who earned nine points and four steals.

Cyprus' loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Hunter, their record now sits at 8-12.

Cyprus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-45 defeat against Taylorsville on the 7th. As for Hunter, they have also already played their next match, a 56-28 win against Granger on the 7th.
