Softball Recap: Christopher's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Christopher got themselves on the board against Del Mar on Friday, but Del Mar never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brianna Diaz Cruz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Diaz Cruz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Christopher got a massive performance out of Melissa Lugo, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one double. Those two triples gave Lugo a new career-high. Olivia Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Christopher's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Del Mar, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christopher will face off against rival Pioneer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Del Mar is set to challenge their familiar foe Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
