Baseball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield dropped to 17-15 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Northlake Christian Wolverines by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Brennen Clement was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Colt Lirette, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Northlake Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Northlake Christian's side, Stew Covey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Covey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke McAdams, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Max Millett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Springfield nor Northlake Christian have any future games scheduled.
