Basketball Recap: Ursuline Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Annabelle Tobin and Lily Smith

Ursuline Academy lost against Bishop Lynch back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ursuline Academy Bears took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Lynch Friars. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lily Smith and Annabelle Tobin certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Smith went 6-for-10 on her way to 16 points and five assists, while Tobin went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and four steals. What's more, Smith also posted a 60% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Devlin, who posted three points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Ursuline Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Ursuline Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Bishop Lynch, the victory got them back to even at 15-15.

As of now, neither Ursuline Academy nor Bishop Lynch have any future games scheduled.
