Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Central Catholic blew Manteca out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Manteca got their revenge. The Raiders fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 9-7. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Caine Walker put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Hudson Walker was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Chase Perino, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Central Catholic moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Manteca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

While Central Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
