Preview: Morgan County Bulldogs vs. Academy of Richmond County Musketeers

Morgan County is 7-0 against Academy of Richmond County since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Morgan County Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers at 6:00 p.m. Morgan County is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, Morgan County strolled past Harlem with points to spare, taking the game 49-31. Given Morgan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Harlem is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Morgan County can attribute much of their success to Kymora Smith, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Miracle Ward was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Academy of Richmond County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Hephzibah 72-42 on the road. The win was just what Academy of Richmond County needed coming off of a 73-22 defeat in their prior game.

It was another big night for NaCja Johnson, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Butler, who scored 15 points.

Morgan County has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Academy of Richmond County, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Morgan County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Academy of Richmond County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 rebounds per game. Given Morgan County's sizeable advantage in that area, Academy of Richmond County will need to find a way to close that gap.

Morgan County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Academy of Richmond County in their previous meeting on January 5th, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morgan County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
