Basketball Game Preview: De Beque Dragons vs. Plateau Valley Cowboys

The De Beque Dragons will face off against the Plateau Valley Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

De Beque took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Hayden 60-23. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

De Beque got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Vines out in front who went 6-for-14 on her way to 20 points and seven boards. Vines is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Rigsby was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

De Beque smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Plateau Valley entered their tilt with Soroco on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 43-29 win over the Rams. The Cowboys pushed the score to 34-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams cut but never quite recovered from.

De Beque is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Plateau Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

De Beque won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Plateau Valley 49-48. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Plateau Valley's Emaline Ealey, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards.
