Softball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Drops Highest Score of Season Against Presentation

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Mitty). They were the clear victors by a 25-1 margin over the Presentation Panthers on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Georgia Sperling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Brianna Gomez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Anderson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Archbishop Mitty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Archbishop Mitty's record is now 7-1. As for Presentation, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Archbishop Mitty and Presentation will both be playing Valley Christian the next time they take the field. The Monarchs will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
