Baseball Recap: Las Animas Wins Going Away Against Centauri

Las Animas got themselves on the board against Centauri on Friday, but Centauri never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 7-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Braydon Ortiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Those 20 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kree Wallace, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Giovanni Chavez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Las Animas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centauri only posted a batting average of .087.

Las Animas has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.5 runs this season. As for Centauri, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
