Basketball Recap: Bonanza Comes Up Short

Bonanza lost against Basic back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bonanza Bengals fell 62-53 to the Basic Wolves.

Basic was led to victory by Kelani Stafford and Kenny Williams. Stafford dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Williams posted 20 points along with seven boards and five steals. Those 17 points gave Stafford a new career-high. Saolotoga Jefferson was another key player, putting up five points.

Bonanza's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Basic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Bonanza didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-63 victory against Doral Academy Red Rock on the 17th. As for Basic, they will face off against Sierra Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Sierra Vista will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Basic surely won't give up without a fight.
