Softball Game Preview: West Side Eagles vs. Shirley Blue Devils

The West Side Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Shirley Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Side has three straight wins, Shirley has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Side will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Concord, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles skirted past the Pirates 3-2. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Shirley was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 16-1 to Calico Rock. The contest marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Shirley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for West Side, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

West Side suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Shirley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
