Softball Recap: Toronto Finds Home Field Redemption Against East Palestine

There's no place like home for Toronto, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Palestine Bulldogs on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Knights have posted since April 18, 2024.

Laney Danko spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Toronto let Isabelle Cattrell and Anna Wright run wild. Cattrell scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Wright scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of NyAva Jett, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Toronto moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for East Palestine, their record now sits at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toronto will welcome Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Palestine, they will take on United at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
