Volleyball Recap: Southwest EC Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Southwest EC was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Spartans. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Southwest EC took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Kailani Hinshaw paced Southwest EC's offense, picking up 11 kills. Hinshaw really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 16. Kaline Martinez and Kaydence Wiewel kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Southwest EC's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Southwest EC is set to challenge their familiar foe Imperial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Central will square off against rival Holtville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
