For the first time in months, there is a new team atop the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

St. John Bosco takes the top spot, previously occupied by Bishop Gorman.

Bishop Gorman struggled but eventually beat Arbor View 28-10. One of its most impressive wins -- a season-opening victory over Arizona's Chandler -- lost some luster when Chandler was bounced from the state playoffs.



The Gaels drop to No. 3, behind St. John Bosco and Centennial. Both of those teams have yet to be tested and are playing as well as any teams in the country right now. If the Pac-5 playoffs continue the way they are going, those teams will do battle in the title game.

Bishop Gorman is still a major player for the No. 1 spot by the time the season is complete. Either St. John Bosco or Centennial will lose in the Pac-5 playoffs, and the winner will likely have to get through De La Salle.

Colquitt County jumps to No. 4, making the small leap ahead of Allen, which narrowly defeated DeSoto, 41-40.

Centennial beat Orange Lutheran, 49-27.

Bishop Gorman beat Arbor View 28-10 in a game that was much closer than expected.



4. (5) Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.), 12-0
The Packers won convincingly over Central Gwinnett, 62-14.

5. (4) Allen (Texas), 12-0
A missed extra point helped Allen escape against DeSoto, 41-40.

6. (6) Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.), 12-0
Ocean Lakes topped Cox, 36-3.

7. (7) Katy (Texas), 12-0
The Tigers allowed more points than they have all year, but defeated Cypress Ranch, 59-20.

8. (8) Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), 12-0
Grayson's defense once again dominated in a 54-21 win over Valdosta.

9. (10) IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 8-0
Idle.



10. (11) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 10-1
The Spartans blanked California High, 47-0.

11. (13) Colerain (Cincinnati), 12-1
Colerain moved closer to a Division 1 title by beating Elder, 41-14.

12. (12) Male (Louisville, Ky.), 13-0
In an instant classic, Male beat Trinity, 20-19.

13. (14) Roswell (Ga.), 12-0
Roswell advanced with a 34-15 win over Camden County.

14. (19) Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.), 12-0
Verlon Dorminey's squad continues to dominate, beating Taylor County 51-0.

15. (16) St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), 12-1
The Eagles defeated Euclid, 33-0.



16. (17) Gilman (Baltimore), 10-1
Season complete.

17. (18) DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), 11-1
DeMatha downed Good Counsel 48-17 to capture the WCAC crown.

18. (20) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 10-1
The Raiders beat playoff rival Dwyer, 24-7.

19. (21) Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.), 11-1
A late Will Bearden touchdown lifted Archer over McEachern, 24-21.

The Ramblers advanced to the Class 8A title game with a 24-22 win over Palatine.

Clay-Chalkville cruised to a 50-14 win over Minor.

Wayne pounded Springboro, 52-21.

Eastside Catholic has yet to be tested. It beat Bonney Lake, 47-7.
