Recap: Skyline Raiders vs. Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes
The matchup between the Skyline Raiders and the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Skyline was outmatched by Duncanville on the road and fell 84-41. Skyline was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-19.
Skyline lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Naiya Carney, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Carney has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'liyah L anderson, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Duncanville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Clayton, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Laila Coleman, who scored 16 points.
Skyline's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 13-14. As for Duncanville, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on Mansfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mansfield is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Duncanville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mansfield Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield Legacy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Duncanville is ranked first).
