Basketball Recap: Granger Lancers vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle
Granger lost against Juan Diego Catholic back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Granger Lancers lost 70-49 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Soaring Eagle are ranked 44th).

Despite the loss, Granger saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Will Tidwell went 10 of 22 on his way to 27 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tidwell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Biddulph, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.
Luke Meyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Juan Diego Catholic, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 20 boards. Meyer's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Evan Colarusso, who put up 11 points.
Granger dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Juan Diego Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Granger will venture away from home to face off against West Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juan Diego Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
