Recap: Strom Thurmond Rebels vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs
It was a good run, but the Strom Thurmond Rebels unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Silver Bluff 57-25. Strom Thurmond has struggled against Silver Bluff recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Strom Thurmond still got an impressive performance from Katlyn Chinn, who scored nine points along with three steals. Chinn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played.
Krystal Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Silver Bluff, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last six times she's played. Ahminah Taylor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Strom Thurmond's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Silver Bluff, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strom Thurmond will take on Fox Creek at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Strom Thurmond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Silver Bluff, they will head out on the road to take on Pelion at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silver Bluff is facing Pelion at the right time seeing as Pelion is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
