Softball Game Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Evergreen Wolverines

The Mercer Island Islanders will head out on the road to face off against the Evergreen Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Mercer Island got the win against Foster by a conclusive 22-1. Considering the Islanders have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Evergreen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Interlake by a score of 13-8 on Monday.

Evergreen has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Mercer Island, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Mercer Island might still be hurting after the 20-1 loss they got from Evergreen in their previous meeting on April 3rd. Can the Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
