The South Rebels will square off against the Ellet Orangemen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
South is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 29th on Monday. They came up short against Riverside, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Beavers: they've now lost three in a row.
Summer Bliss (Lake Erie College) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Addy Matriano was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Ellet had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Monday. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Orangemen have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Rylie Sprouse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ellet got a massive performance out of Carmen Allen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lulu Russell, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
Ellet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in nine consecutive games.
Ellet pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
South came out on top in a nail-biter against Ellet when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Orangemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
