Softball Recap: Hartsville Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Hartsville's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Crestwood Knights a 17-0 shutout. The Red Foxes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Allie Bailey looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mary Ellen Hickey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaysha McCullough, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Hartsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.

Hartsville pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.4 runs. As for Crestwood, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Hartsville and Crestwood will both be playing Darlington the next time they take the field. Hartsville will host Darlington at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Crestwood will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
