Basketball Game Preview: Ridgeland vs. North Eagles

Ridgeland and the North Eagles will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.

Ridgeland is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 71 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Friday. They came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 54-30. While Ridgeland didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Bamberg-Ehrhardt 11-6 in the first quarter.

Jabien Harris was Ridgeland's leading scorer, having posted 14 points. Hakeem Chaneyfield held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Jordan Sanders took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North). They claimed a resounding 104-45 win over Wagener-Salley. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won three contests in a row.

North's win came from a few key players Ridgeland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Stetson Stacks, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 11 assists, and 14 steals. The match was his 13th in a row with at least ten points. Jaleil Way was another key player, going 12 for 17 en route to 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

North was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Ridgeland dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for North, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Ridgeland suffered a grim 79-54 defeat to North in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stacks, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 22 points and seven steals. Now that Ridgeland knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
