Softball Game Preview: Old Bridge Knights vs. East Brunswick Bears

The Old Bridge Knights will venture away from home to take on the East Brunswick Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Old Bridge's offense. They fell 4-0 to Spotswood on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, East Brunswick is still undefeated this season after their match against Sayreville on Tuesday, but Sayreville came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Bears came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Bombers.

East Brunswick pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Old Bridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Everything went Old Bridge's way against East Brunswick in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Old Bridge made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
