Shawnee hadn't done well against Century recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Redskins won by a set and slipped past the Centurions 2-1. The game was the first time the Redskins have beaten the Centurions on their court since October 17, 2016.

Shawnee had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 14-25, 25-14, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Century saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brycelynn Ledbetter had 12 digs. Ledbetter has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Shawnee now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Century, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Shawnee and Century will both be playing Joppa-Maple Grove the next time they take the court. The Centurions will host the Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Redskins will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
