Basketball Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

Smithfield lost against Lafayette back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Smithfield Packers lost 55-31 to the Lafayette Rams. The Packers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Dynasti Pierce was a one-woman wrecking crew for Lafayette as she dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards. The matchup was Pierce's 11th in a row with at least ten points. MaKayla Keys was another key player, putting up six points along with five assists and five steals.

Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lafayette, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Smithfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-30 win against Arcadia on the 13th. As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grassfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lafayette has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 166 points over their last three contests.
