Football Recap: Needles Comes Up Short

Needles was the 34-17 winner over Boulder City when they last played one another back in September of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs lost to the Eagles at home by a 24-6 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 740th in California, while the Eagles are ranked 38th in Nevada).

Boulder City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Francis Mariani, who threw for 159 yards and three TDs. Anthony Eby was in the mix as well, providing the Eagles with two touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Needles and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Boulder City, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Needles will be playing in front of their home fans against The Meadows School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Boulder City, they will head out to challenge Eldorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
