Basketball Game Preview: John Bapst Memorial Crusaders vs. Old Town Coyotes

John Bapst Memorial is 1-9 against Old Town since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The John Bapst Memorial Crusaders will face off against the Old Town Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

John Bapst Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They strolled past Washington Academy with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Raiders are ranked 45th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Old Town). They walked away with a 57-49 win over Greater Houlton Christian Academy last Tuesday.

John Bapst Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points over those games. As for Old Town, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Things could have been worse for John Bapst Memorial, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-28 loss to Old Town in their previous matchup back in January. Can John Bapst Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
