Football Recap: Fayetteville Falls to Columbia Academy in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Fayetteville kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 36-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia Academy Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

A big part of Columbia Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Jacob Helms and his top target Oliver Siegle. Helms threw for 151 yards and a pair of TDs while Siegle picked up 47 receiving yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Helms a new career-high in passer rating (132.2).

Coming up, Fayetteville will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Friendship Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbia Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Battle Ground Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
