Basketball Game Preview: Brookland-Cayce Bearcats vs. Ashley Hall Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats challenge the Ashley Hall Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday... Brookland-Cayce will be strutting in after a victory while Ashley Hall will be coming in after a loss.

Brookland-Cayce will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 31) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Silver Bluff, sneaking past 33-30. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but the Bearcats were the better team in the second half.

It was another big night for Kamryn Etheredge, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Brookland-Cayce's points. Maci Cobb was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Brookland-Cayce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ashley Hall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Northside Christian Academy, falling 58-21.

Ashley Hall's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Brookland-Cayce, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
