The Grove City Eagles will face off against the Slippery Rock Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grove City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
While Grove City's win against Franklin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Knights last Monday.

Taylor Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Remi Stillwagon was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lily Rihel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Slippery Rock, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Franklin on Wednesday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Rockets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Like Grove City, Slippery Rock also got a great game from a two-way player: Joslyn Korcok. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Korcok has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Belle Miller was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lillian Campbell, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Grove City now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Slippery Rock, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.
Slippery Rock's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Grove City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Slippery Rock, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Grove City keep running through batters, or will the Rockets buck the trend?
Grove City beat Slippery Rock 14-10 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
