Baseball Recap: Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy walked away with it. They came out on top against the BVCHEA HomeSchool Mustangs by a score of 6-1 on Friday.

Diego Raygoza made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-11-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryston Stubbs, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kelyan Navarrete also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-11-1. As for BVCHEA HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-11-2 record this season.
