Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Mariners vs. Augustine Prep Lions

The St. Francis Mariners will take on the Augustine Prep Lions in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis will be strutting in after a win while Augustine Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Francis will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Heritage Christian, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. St. Francis sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over Heritage Christian on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Augustine Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shoreland Lutheran.

St. Francis' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Augustine Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Everything went St. Francis' way against Augustine Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as St. Francis made off with a 52-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
