Softball Recap: Jeannette Jayhawks vs. St. Joseph Spartans

Jeannette can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. Everything went their way against the St. Joseph Spartans as the Jeannette Jayhawks made off with an 18-3 win. The victory was nothing new for Jeannette as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Grace Stein was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Stein has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Stein was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four stolen bases, and four runs.

In other batting news, Addasyn Stout was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Shaw, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

On St. Joseph's side, Julie Spinelli made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

Jeannette's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for St. Joseph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Jeannette will head out on the road to square off against Leechburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Jeannette's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Leechburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph, they will be playing at home against Springdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
