Baseball Game Preview: Ridgefield Park Scarlets vs. Ridgefield Memorial Royals

Ridgefield Park and Ridgefield Memorial are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Scarlets will face off against the Royals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Ridgefield Park is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against River Dell on Friday. They came up short against the Golden Hawks, falling 6-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 21, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Ridgefield Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Alvarado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

While Ridgefield Memorial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Wallington 13-3 on Thursday. The victory was just business as usual for the Royals, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Ridgefield Memorial's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Ridgefield Park, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Ridgefield Park beat Ridgefield Memorial 11-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scarlets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
