Softball Recap: Providence Cristo Rey Comes Up Short

Providence Cristo Rey had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Eminence Eels, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Eminence, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Eminence's part, Emma Webb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Webb has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Khloee Kirk, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emmalin Dittemore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Providence Cristo Rey has already played their next game, a 21-17 loss against Indianapolis Shortridge on the 15th. As for Eminence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-2 defeat against Living Water Homeschool on the 14th.
