Volleyball Game Preview: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Mullen Mustangs

The Eaglecrest Raptors will take on the Mullen Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mullen took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Eaglecrest, who comes in off a win.

Eaglecrest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Overland, who was ranked 19th at the time (Eaglecrest was ranked fourth). The Raptors came out on top against the Trailblazers by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Raptors haven't had any issues with the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Mullen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Cherokee Trail, falling 3-0.

Mullen was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-12.

Eaglecrest's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Mullen, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Eaglecrest took their win against Mullen in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Raptors repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
