Baseball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Lakewood and Moreno Valley squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Lakewood had to settle for second. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Lancers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Nate Gallegos made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Lakewood is 3-1 when Gallegos posts two or more runs, but 9-16 otherwise. Drake Merrill was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Moreno Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moreno Valley, they will welcome Camarillo at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
