Softball Recap: Carlmont Scots vs. Aragon Dons

Carlmont's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over the Aragon Dons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carlmont also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Kathrine Fung made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Fung has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Fung was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Molly Brand was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Izzy Won, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Like Carlmont, Aragon also got a great game from a two-way player: Rae D'Amato. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (she also didn't allow any walks). D'Amato was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

D'Amato wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Are Makropoulos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Carlmont's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Aragon, they now have a losing record at 7-8-1.

Carlmont will challenge Willow Glen at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Aragon, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Burlingame at 4:00 p.m. on April 9th. Aragon is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
