Baseball Recap: Chaparral Wins Going Away Against Desert Mountain

After losing to Desert Mountain the last time they met, Chaparral decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Firebirds put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 13-2 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Chaparral got a massive performance out of Parker Halvorson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. The Firebirds are undefeated when Halvorson posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Santarius, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.

Halvorson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Firebirds are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Desert Mountain, they dropped their record down to 9-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Chaparral will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
